Daughter Of A Drum is the home of all compositions and choreographies by Aoife McAtamney and collaborators.
Founded in March 2024 current corals include THE PINK BREATH PROJECT and AUTHORS.
With a background in contemporary dance I am curious about the complexities sound, speech and song can create physically, and how the creation and sharing of live and digital art can reaffirm embodiment.
My early solo ‘Softer Swells’ was influenced by the practice and performative aesthetics of the Irish Traditional Arts, specifically Sean Nós meaning ‘old style’ dance and song. It was an Aerowaves selected work and marked the beginning of my investigations into unifying the sounding voice and moving body in service of expression, equity and community

My debut album Pink Breath released in late 2024 to critical acclaim – making the RTE recommendations list and played on RTE Radio 1 and BBC Sounds including features in publications Hotpress and The Irish Times.
Produced and mixed by Alex Borwick featuring collaborations with Glasshouse Ensemble, Justin Vivian Bond, Graham Hopkins and Caoimhe Hopkinson.
